The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science Journal records the healings and spiritual insights of those who faithfully practice Christian Science.  Individuals share how an ever-developing understanding of God has healed, enlightened, and blessed them, expanding their spirituality and ability to heal others.  Below are a few sample articles.

The Journal also includes a worldwide directory of Christian Science practitioners, teachers, and Christian Science nurses available to anyone interested in spiritual healing, as well as a listing of all Christian Science churches and societies throughout the world.  The directory is here as well as in the right column of this page.

If someone has a genuine commitment to the teachings of Jesus, what need is there for symbols or a ceremony? Can’t a person be baptized through the spiritual purification, or washing of thought, that comes through following Jesus’ precepts in daily life? And doesn’t such a life make one a Christian?

When we commune with God, we don’t want to feel that we’re getting an answering machine! How do we avoid that? Like Jesus’ disciples, we need the humility to put our trust on the side of Spirit, not matter.

To be born again demands that we live in conformity with what Jesus taught were the two greatest commandments—loving God with our whole heart and loving our neighbor as ourselves.  Only in this way can we put off the “old” (mortal) man and put on the “new” (spiritual) man, as St. Paul urges.

Spiritualizing our consciousness daily and seeking to understand that life is immortal help us to discern the truth of what Jesus’ resurrection shows us: that life doesn’t begin and end in matter, but is spiritual and therefore eternal.

Considering the earth from the spiritual perspective Christian Science provides is revealing. It suggests that the earth’s identity is vastly more than even the most majestic of material views. Earth’s essence as a compound spiritual idea frees it from the current thinking we hold about it as vulnerable to destructive conditions.

In our ongoing spiritual journey, God gives us angels—His spiritual messages—to inspire and guide us. Angels (who actually are not beings with wings as we’ve so often seen them represented, but are thoughts or messages from divine Mind, God) are always present at every moment to uplift us.

A growing number of patients using traditional medicine are asking where faith fits into the picture. They’re seeking solutions that involve a marriage—or at least a relationship—between science and spirituality. Can the two work together?

Creation or evolution? Christian Science explains that man is spiritual, being created by God, infinite Mind, all the time, in an ongoing process.

Christ Jesus called on us to repent, to change our thought. Have you ever considered repenting of matter? It's a call to change from a materialistic way of thinking to a spiritual way of seeing life and existence.

If evil gets the last word on determining reality, then it would hardly be surprising to find people abandoning the idea of God altogether. But our spiritual sense—an unshakeable conviction of God’s goodness and all-power—gives us a basis for exposing evil as invalid and vulnerable, which lets us see and feel the actuality of God everywhere.
